Two bedroom villa, fifteen meters from the cliff top overlooking the sea with an infinity pool. Comfortable modern and spacious with direct access to a private beach. Two minutes walk from the town, five minutes walk from the main beach and 10 minutes from the airport by car. Secluded, quiet, tranquil and un spoilt. It is only a ten minute flight (or 1 hr boat trip) from Praia the capital city of Cape Verde The property sleeps six people and comprises two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen dining area, a large open plan living room and an outside terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed for self catering including: solid wood dining table with six chairs, refrigerator, cooker with hob. For outside dining there is a table with four chairs. In the living room there is a double sofa bed, two sofas and a stereo with CD and mp3 player. The living area has a satellite TV and many sockets for phone, internet & power. The development comprises twenty detached villas, fifteen semidetached bungalows and seven apartments. The property has a large terrace and its own private garden. Due to its location and aspect it is sheltered from the prevailing trade winds so it is warm, even in the winter months. It is also exceptionally quiet as no traffic is allowed in the development and there are only a few flights a week from small planes. There are also rules governing noise. During the day there is a day guard whose duty is also to maintain the common areas and keep the pool clean. During the night there is a night guard to watch over the properties. The development has its own desalination plant for the production of clean fresh water. There is a private beach only accessible by villa owners down steps built into the cliff. The steps to this beach are on the other side of the pool that can be seen from the bedroom window, about fifty meters from the villa. On the other side of the local beach is the town of Vila Do Maio. A short walk down through the town brings you out on the main street over looking the long white sandy main beach. The climate is tropical and dry. The average daytime temperature remains around 25°C and whilst there are highs and lows due to the influence from the Ocean, the changes do not exceed 10°C. The sea temperature is between 21°C in February and March up to 25°C in September and October. Rainfall is, unfortunately for the farmers, very rare. The sea temperature is several degrees warmer than the Canaries. The Islands can be windy, particularly the north-easterly Trade Wind can be strong, however this keeps temperatures and humidity lower and encourages some exciting water sports. Activities - snorkeling and scuba diving - sailing, surfing and windsurfing - walking and trekking – cycling - bird watching - fishing (big game, shore and salt water fly). The terrain around Maio is made up of forests in the northern part and the dry island desert dominates the rest of the area around Maio. A small salt marsh is situated to the northwest. The mountains including a view of Monte Batalha dominates the northwest. The population has doubled between 1990 and 2005. The GDP for the town is between low and middle range and living standards outside the dev elopement are between low and moderate. Description of Vila Do Maio town Vila do Maio, is a town in the southwestern part of the island of Maio in southeastern Cape Verde. It is the main urban settlement of the island, and also seat of the Maio Municipality. The town is still (colloquially) known by its old name, Porto Inglês (Portuguese for "English port" in which was founded, Cape Verdean Creole: Port’ Inglês), in opposition of the older Porto Português (present day Calheta). The town is the 14th largest city in Cape Verde after Picos. Vila do Maio is linked with the island's highway serving the eastern and the northern portions of the island especially to Pedro Vaz and Morrinho. Vila do Maio has a port with ferry routes to the island of Santiago.
